This is such an awesome, hearty soup that’s packed with Southwestern flavors. I love it topped with sour cream and avocado. To make Spicy Black Bean Soup Mix in a Jar, layer these ingredients in the order listed in a wide-mouth pint canning jar.
Ingredients: black beans (Local: Fresh Acres Farms, certified organic, non GMO), navy white beans (Local: Fresh Acres Farms, certified organic, non GMO), onion, garlic, cumin, red pepper, celery seed, teaspoons chili powder, bouillon mix (nutritional yeast, onion, garlic, parsley, oregano, thyme, basil, turmeric)
In a large stock pot, soup mix, and 6 cups of water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 1½–2 hours, stirring occasionally, until the beans are tender and the soup is thick. You might need to add more water as the beans cook. Adjust seasonings if necessary. Serve topped with sour cream and diced avocado. Great with tortilla chips or cornbread on the side.
